Dante Celebrations: Third Meeting. Intercontinental Round Table on Paradise

The event will be held at 2.30 pm (ET) or at 8.30 pm (Italian time)

The third and final appointment of our Dante meetings on the Comedy, aimed at celebrating the 700th anniversary of Dante's death, will see together Doctor Rossana Fenu Barbera (Loyola Blakefield) with her two guests, Professors Susanna Barsella (Fordham University) and Vincenzo Vespers (University of Florence)  in an intercontinental round table on Zoom with a shared conversation at the center on the third canticle, Paradise. After a brief canonical presentation on the last part of Dante's journey to God, the three-way talk will focus in particular on the structure of Dante's paradise, on its privileged and fascinating inhabitants, the angels, and their function in Dante's cosmology, and on how mathematics and geometry intersect with poetry in the medieval mind giving rise to truly surprising results.
