From Alejandro Monteverde, the award-winning director of Sound of Freedom, comes the powerful epic of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who arrives in New York City in 1889 and is greeted by disease, crime, and impoverished children. Cabrini embarks on a daring mission to convince the hostile mayor to provide housing and health care to society’s most vulnerable. With broken English and failing health, Cabrini uses her entrepreneurial mind to build an empire of hope unlike anything the world has ever seen.
Is the movie in English?
Francesca Cabrini was an Italian immigrant, so the writers and director chose to keep most of her dialogue in Italian to accurately represent her story. There are subtitles in scenes where Italian is spoken.
