Presents: Dr. Robin Foà
Curated by Patrizia Farci
Professor Robin Foà, one of the leading international experts and scholars of haematological diseases, has developed a great interest in photography since he was a boy. Born in England to an English mother and an Italian father, he was exposed to different cultures from an early age. He lived in Turin where he graduated in Medicine and Surgery and then specialized in Pediatrics and Hematology. In addition to Turin he worked in London, in New York at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and at the 'Sapienza' University of Rome, where until 2019 he was the Director of the Hematology Center, Director of the Postgraduate School of Hematology and Coordinator of the PhD in Hematological Sciences.
Over the years, Professor Foà has combined his passion for travel with his profession as a doctor by publishing numerous books of photographs, some with his wife, Rita Guarini, also a professor at the Sapienza University, who played a role primary not only in his personal life but also in his professional life and shared with him the great passion for photography and travel.
During his presentation, entitled “Hematology, Travel and Photography” Professor Foà showed us how different passions such as medicine, humanism, and nature can strengthen each other and merge into a unique harmony. In a moment like this dominated by the pandemic, he gave us the opportunity to get out of this lockdown and travel the world through his photographs to learn about the art, culture, nature, architecture and beauty of the landscape of many countries he has visited.
