Presents: Rossana Fenu Barbera
Curated by Erminia Scarcella
In this new encounter on the rediscovery of Dante, Professor Rossana Fenu Barbera will talk to us about the second cantica of the Divine Comedy. We will examine together the structure of the mountain of Purgatory and its significance in the process of purification of penitents, a process that includes Dante himself as a character for the continuation of his otherworldly journey. We will focus in particular on some key moments of the poem: the farewell to Virgil as the poet's guide and the taking over of Beatrice, found by Dante (significantly changed) for the first time after his death, and several years after the composition of the New Life . It will in fact be the task of the beloved Beatrice, who came to meet Dante in this canticle, at the gates of the Earthly Paradise, to guide him in the continuation of his journey to God.
